Purpose and legal basis for processing
Our purpose for collecting the information is so we can provide you with a targeted service that meets your needs, as we have several groups of users.
The legal basis we rely on for processing your personal data is your consent under article 6(1)(b) of the GDPR.
What we need?
To ensure that we are providing you with the information that is most appropriate for you - there is currently no charge for registration on our website. Depending on your circumstances we ask for some of the following information: your name, email address, where you will use the information (home, university, work), size of organisation, industry, market sector you work in, your job title / role and function.
Why we need it?
We use your email address to send you our E-newsletter and all the remaining information is used to ensure that we provide a very specific experience for you requirements, as each of our user groups is able to access and view information that is specific for them. For example, some information related to a breach news item may only be relevant for a home users to action if they have suffered a breach, whereas other information may be relevant to a business on responding to a similar breach - we serve information that is targeted based on user groups.
This information helps us ensure that we are meeting the needs of each user group.
What we do with it?
We only use your details to provide the service.
We gather statistics around email opening and clicks using industry standard technologies including clear gifs to help us monitor and improve our e-newsletter.
You will receive a confirmation email once you have submitted your details and then the newsletters on a monthly basis.
How long we keep it?
All registration data apart from Name and registration date details are are destroy after you confirm that you would like to us to delete your registration. Your name and registration date are kept for 12 months to enable us to resolve any issues involving your use of the website. Note that whilst you continue to use any service which require registration, we will maintain registration details you supplied.
What are your rights?
We rely on your consent to process the personal data you provide to us for marketing purposes. This means you have the right to withdraw your consent, or to object to the processing of your personal data for this purpose at any time. If you do that, we’ll update our records immediately to reflect your wishes.
